Just last night FaceBook finally made it easy for you to tell people how to find you on FaceBook and made it easy for people who are searching for you on Facebook.
They call it ‘vanity names‘.
It’s easy to do too. Simply:
- Go to http://www.Facebook.com/username
- It will show you the names you can pick from. And if you click on the ‘more’ link it will let you select a different name.
- Select the name you want by checking the box or typing in your full name.
- You are done!
A warning – you cannot change it once you get it so make sure it’s what you want.
Do it now! Unless you have a very unique name, there are many of ‘you’ on FaceBook so go get yours while it is still available.

May name is not unique. I sat on Facebook watching the countdown clock last night so I could get my name the way I wanted it "sharonhill". Now my FB name matches my twitter name. It wasn't on the list to select from, I clicked "more" and filled in the blank so people shouldn't assume the name they want is gone just because it isn't listed. Click "more" and fill in the blank to check.

Thanks for the post. Wow, I didnt know that it is so easy to find people on FaceBook. I just logged on FaceBook not long ago and have only some friends there. Now I can find anyone I want and also made new acquintances. This service "vanity names" is a good idea.
@Cathy: You were lucky to get your name, unfortunately my preferred name wasn’t valid (only 4 characters). I got my second preferred name thanks to an alarm that I had set

Sometimes a difficult name is a good thing!
