Choosing a Host for Your WordPress Blog
After you decide to host your own WordPress blog and you have your domain name, the next thing you need is a hosting company. I recommend GoDaddy for several reasons. 1. The price is right. 2. Ease of setup. GoDaddy has a 'one-click' WordPress install feature. Well, it's more than one click to get to the WordPress install within GoDaddy but once you find it in Metropolis (GoDaddy's area for automatic installations of several software packages), it really is one-click. Let's talk about setting up your hosting account first. At some point during the setup you will be asked if you want Windows or Linux hosting. This question is very important and you must answer it correctly or WordPress just won't work well. Choose Linux! Trust me (don't you hate it when someone says 'trust me'?). Most people don't have a clue about Linux and they've certainly heard of Windows so they choose Windows. That seems to be a logical choice but it's WRONG! In this case, the choice is between two servers and a Windows server has nothing to do with the Windows you know. Explaining the difference between the two is too techy and I don't want your eyes to glaze over like mine do when I even think about it. So - choose Linux and if you want an explanation of the difference, go to my contact page and shoot a question my way. This one crucial point has tripped up more of my clients than just about anything. The moral of the story is - choose Linux for your server when you are asked. If you don't, nothing will work as it should. Trust me!« Are You A Beginner At Internet Marketing? | Home | Blog Now is Finally Launched »

I also love GoDaddy, but I never knew about the WordPress feature. I did know to choose Linux over Windows but I don't even want to know why. We trust you! Thanks for the great information here on your Blog.
Thanks Connie. I am getting ready to recommend another host, HostGator. As I discover more, I'll tell everyone about what I find. Stay tuned!
Excellent! Thanks for this incredibly detailed post. It's information like this that keeps me coming back. Keep up the good work!
Kind regards,
Martin
