Kelly Rudolph has a great post on her Your Personal Safety Blog about fear and self-esteem. I know people are afraid to go into their blog files and make changes but read what Kelly had to say about that:
I was just working on a new safety blog for a large client today and realized how scary it is for me to change the WordPress template colors, etc. All of the technical stuff can freak me out due to fear I’ll mess something up permanently.
My blogging instructor and coach, Cathy Perkins, The WordPress Wizard helped me do what I needed to do.
I told her how scary it was at first and then how fun it became once I’d had some success (with her instruction) and didn’t blow up my computer or anything (Ha!). You know what Cathy said? She said, “That’s the same thing you said last year, in my class, when we did this.”
Kelly was in a class of mine last year. We had a ‘marathon’ Q&A and she was there – asking really great questions and accomplishing what she wanted to accomplish. Along the way she remarked several times that it was scary. She made the same remark when we were working together again and I reminded her of her fear from last year.
Go check out Kelly’s post on Fear, Self-Esteem and Safety. I think you will learn several things there. I know I did.
While you are there, be sure to read to the end to find out something interesting about me!
Cathy Perkins – The WordPress Wizard

What a great post by both of you guys! I definitely know how Kelly feels because I am often concerned about messing up client blogs but thanks to the information I get from you Cathy, I have better faith in my abilities and what I can accomplish.
That post is a great testimonial as to how really awesome you are as a "Wordpress Wizard"!
Great call today too! Choosing themes is my biggest headache. Appreciated your thoughts.

This is captain obvious speaking: make backups. And if the thing you're changing is really critical, back-up your back-ups. I know lazyness pays off *now* and work pays off later, but the grief of wrecking your site can be easily avoided with a simple back-up.
Cathy, this comment really applies to your April 30th interview of Kelly Rudolph that I listened to recently. The tips were excellent on personal safety. I was especially interested in how and why negatives fail to work — and of the power of reframing negative expressions. Because her explaination triggered an“Ah ha” moment for me, I wrote “The Power of the Reframing Negative Expressions” about the implications for soft sell sales and marketing. You can find it at http://johnaberle.com/blog1/2009/07/26/the-power-of-the-reframing-negative-expressions.
