I love Seth Godin – do you? He has a stellar post today over at Seth’s Blog.
It’s called Ignore Your Critics. When I saw the title I thought – ‘How timely! I’m teaching a class this Tuesday on Your Commenting Strategy.’ My advice is always to ignore your critics so I decided I must be on the right track.
Seth, being Seth, put a new spin on it. He also talks about your fans. What? Ignore you fans? How can you build a community if you ignore your fans?
I can’t say it better than he did so here’s a quote from his blog.
“Your fans don’t want you to change, your fans want you to maintain the essence of what you bring them but add a laundry list of features. You fans want lower prices and more contributions, bigger portions and more frequent deliveries.
So, who should you listen to?
Your sneezers.
You should listen to the people who tell the most people about you. Listen to the people who thrive on sharing your good works with others. If you delight these people, you grow.”
See why I love Seth Godin? He always has a slightly better way of looking at and explaining things. I will definitely incorporate some of his thoughts in my class Tuesday. Thanks Seth!
I’d like to invite you to take a look and consider enrolling in this Commenting Strategy class. One night for less than the cost of 1 press release and your ideas about commenting will be drastically changed and surely profitable.

Cathy-
Seth Godin is brilliant I think. He always seems to be ahead of everyone thinks like no one else – that\’s brilliant I think. We need to talk soon about NAMS 2. Looking forward to you bringing your smiling face to Atlanta. And we\’re got lots of room for u to bring your brilliance to the room too.

Come on everyone – I know you are here – I check my stats and hope you check yours too. What do you think of Seth's idea??
Great post Cathy — thanks for sharing! I like the "listen to your sneezers" as long as they don't give me a cold.
I appreciate your food for thought.
Thank you David! Am so looking forward to NAMS 2 and to talking to you about it.. Already talking to people about it.
But Tara – You ARE a sneezer! And I appreciate you for it.
I saw this post earlier today and I thought it was interesting, too. The one problem I had with it is that you can't just say 'ignore everybody except these people'. Overall, I think he has a good point, you'll probably get the most value out of people who promote you than anyone else, but I don't think it's to the point where you can block out everybody else.
Cathy, who's helped you out the most when trying to figure out how to improve your product?

I agree – you can't simply ignore people. However, relying more on the opinions of 'sneezers' makes sense to me. I believe my 'sneezers' have helped me the most with their always cogent comments on my products and services..
Seth Godin is as always spot on – thanks for passing him along to us!

He really is. If you want some 'ahead of the curve' info, follow Seth!
You can't go wrong by following in the footsteps of Seth Godin. He has come a long way. I just checked out an older book on Finance from the library and his name was on it. It was before he was as big as he is now. He shared billing on the book with another author I never heard of. Right there is the proof he know what he is talking about. Now he runs his own show and writes his own book and each one becomes a best seller.
