The WordPress Wizard

Turning Your Blog Posts Into Profits

The Wizard Weekly

Yesterday’s Wizard Weekly ran a bit long and there was no time to answer questions. So - here are some of them with answers.

How do you put a description in an audio or video? - Diane http://www.wordstoprofit.com

In PodPress there is a field for Title. Make that descriptive! Below that you will see Post Specific Settings for ITunes. That is where you can create the subtitle, summary, keywords, and author. While this says ITunes specific, Google reads this too. Make good use of these fields.

I just can’t figure out how to put a link to my website on the blog. I want to put it up at the top, where it’s very visible. - Bettina

Bettina, Links go in the Blogroll (which I prefer to call Links). In your admin area you will see a tab called BlogRoll. Click on that and add your link. To make it appear on your blog, drag the widget titled Blogroll into your sidebar. If you want it to appear high in the sidebar, drag the widget to the top of the sidebar.

I don’t know how to include photos in my posts. I see that it has the possibility to insert images, but it seems that you have to upload the images to the wp files first? - Bettina

Yes - you do have to upload the images first but that is accomplished inside the WordPress editor. Below the editor area you will find a section called Upload. Click on the Browse button and find the image on your computer. Put in the title and description. W hen you find it, click on the Upload button at the bottom right of the upload area. After the file has uploaded, click on Edit and copy the url. Go up to the editor and put your cursor where you want to insert the image. Click on the insert/edit image icon at the top of the editor. When the box appears, paste the url in the url area and key in a good description. Click on Insert at the bottom right of that window and your image will be in your post.

Finally, I gave you an incorrect link. Andrew Poletto’s link is http://www.RealMortgageTraining.com. Andrew’s blog is fairly new - it is definitely worth your time to follow him as he builds it.
